Join the Mata Ortiz Collector’s Society

The Mata Ortiz Collector’s Society is neither an approved not-for-profit group, nor is a for-profit organization. It exists to serve the village of Mata Ortiz and those who love to collect the works of the artists who live there. We will actively promote the work of artists, guides, horse rentals, posadas, restaurants and other business people in the village. We will support galleries and dealers who support the village. We will take no remuneration for so doing. We will sell no pottery, but we will enthusiastically endorse those who make fine work representing the best in the newly emerging village Mata Ortiz Potterytradition. We will try and connect people for their mutual benefit. We will do our best to be a forum where all can discuss the history, traditions and products of the village in either Spanish or English. We will happily respond to inquiries in either language.

There is no set cost or fee to join the Mata Ortiz Collector’s Society. Anyone and everyone may enter into our online discussion groups. If you would like to “join” the society, we invite you to do so by making a contribution to our work. The membership contribution is not tax-deductible. It will go to support the expenses of the society and to provide for special projects for the village. We would like to develop maps, brochures, guides, etc that will help anyone visiting the village. Our website will be the gathering place for everyone. What are the benefits of “joining” the society? We are not real sure yet . . . we are too new! Here is what we are thinking of at this point:

The Mata Ortiz Collector's Society is proud to have Spencer and Emi MacCallum as our first and second charter members! Congrats Spencer and Emi! We also welcome Jerry Boyd and Steve Rose to our ranks. Jerry is active in many ways and Steve lives in the village. Both are well-known and active traders and contribute much to the village.

Please fill in the form to join our growing ranks. We have room for around twenty more charter members. We welcome all.
